Husband’s Special Cannabis Blend Helped Olivia Newton-John Eliminate Opioids After Stage 4 Breast Cancer

When metastatic cancer invades the bones, the pain can be bad. In Olivia Newton-John’s case she used a custom-made medical cannabis blend to help her through.

Olivia Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, 68, shared the singer’s latest breast cancer recurrence, which landed her in her namesake hospital, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.

The couple, who married in 2008, joined the annual fundraising walk for her Australian cancer center. Afterward, Newton-John, 71, experienced pain in her hip and pelvis.

In an interview with The Sacred Plant

, a medical cannabis series, Easterling — who formulated Olivia’s Choice, a cannabis blend, for his wife — explained how he created a special blend to help manage her pain, eliminate her need for opioids, and speed her healing.

Quality of life for people with metastatic breast cancer has improved, says Dr. Erica Mayer, a medical oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Newton-John’s pain, Easterling explained, “was actually a fracture, which is kind of the progression of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with has metastasized to the bone. Over time that compromises some of the bones, so the bone just gave way to a fracture.”

‘Like The Show ‘Undercover Boss’”

Newton-John entered her own cancer center for treatment. “It was almost like the show, ‘Undercover Boss’,” Easterling said, with a smile. “We checked in under a fictitious name. She wore a mask so that nobody would recognize her in the hospital. And it was a wonderful experience.”
