Until recently, the term “weed subscription box” was a misnomer—a bit hazy, you might say. You wouldn’t get cannabis in the boxes. You would just get paraphernalia. Now that recreational cannabis has been legalized in 11 states, some merchants are sending out boxes with actual cannabis inside.
“Today, weed boxes of the month have evolved into potent, craft, designer collections, expertly selected, and fashionably designed—all with online ordering and contactless delivery,” writes Leafly’s David Downs. “Think: a BirchBox of buds. Or: the FabFitFun of flower.”
Where are weed subscription boxes legal?
Recreational cannabis use has been legalized in Alaska, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington, as well as the U.S. territories of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island, according to the marijuana legalization organization NORML.
